10:26 am - Ok This I don't quite understand
So I was putting off work and looking at friendsfriends list.

Someone in the pagan community posts about how she (I think) doesn't take any medicine. None period (except for excedren a couple of times). And that she can't find a good herbal remedy for really bad headaches.

And mentions about her super strong immune system from vegetarianism and whole/organic foods.

Now I understand why people will refuse, mind/chemical altering drugs along the lines of illegal drugs, anti-depressants, and the such (Psychotropic i believe is one term for them)

But refusing Asprin and Anti-biotics. The first thought is the episodes of ER and the parents bringing in kids refusing treatment because of whichever the one religion is that uses "faith healing"

It just has an annoying amount of hypocracy for me. Medicine while not an exact science is still a far cry from alchemy or leech users.

That someone who is obviously not against science/technology/research is so selective. Here they are posting on the internet. which is pretty much a high point of technology right now.

But many more years of research and development and refining of asprin, but thier belief denies them. Now I can't blame a person who is following an established belief system. When I say establish I mean they don't have any large say in the tennants of the belief system. But someone in a belief system that is open almost entirely to the personal level, i just can't see the logic.

I realize I'm trying to apply logic to belief systems but thats how I work. One can say Logic is part of my belief system.

I mean break it down. Your body gets sick. It means your immune system is having trouble with something. The headache and sneezing and dripping, are not the actual disease but side effects caused by your body fighting said disease. Medication is trying to help your body. Is it pride installed by belief system? That you can't seek help in fighting it?

I dunno. A lot of people abuse medication. However I was very "I AIN'T PUTTING ANYMORE PILLS/MEDS IN MY BODY" and insisted the way to go was just rely on your body's strength to heal itself.

And I spent a lot of time in the hospital getting pumped up full of steroids and other shit -which had to have been far more detrimental to my health (we'll you've seen my fine svelt figurre from all the steroids) and it finally got thru my head that some medications I am just gonna have to take if I want to function in society and since that acceptance, I rarely get so sick I have to be hospitalized anymore.

As for logic as the belief system... yea I'm kinda in the same boat there... there's a line between logical aid and idiotic misuse.

I can understand, not taking medication for an established reason. i.e. your steroids.

I went through a similar thing with Physcian Weight Loss Center.

When I started thier system. On like a Tuesday night. (food suppliments in morning, noon, and night, real crappy tasting shit) I started feeling sick on wednesday night. Had to call off work Thursday, talked to them said how I was feeling like crap. They blamed it on change in diet, lack of caffene. However i've gone more then a day without food, more then 2 weeks without caffene and it felt nowhere as bad as I was feeling. They then suggested continue trying supplements til my next appointment.

I choked now supplements for another day continuing to be sick friday night.

Friday night I said fuck it. While continuing to be on the food plan just sans drink suppliment (still taking pill suppliments) And I felt better by Saturday night.

I ended up stopping thier program cause they said I had to have the supplements. And that the supplements had nothing in them to make me sick (other then nutrasweet which i have no problem with). Basically convo went like this.

Why can't I not just take the liquid suppliments. Cause the "rev" your system up.
Well "reving" my system is making me sick.
There's nothing in there that can make you sick.
What about whatever is "reving" my system.
There's nothing in there that can make you sick.

It went no where, so I left thier program.

So stop taking something that is making you feel worse. I can understand not wanting to take those kinds of drugs.

But stating you will take NO dugs. As a blanket belief is what drives me insane.

All generalities are wrong.

in general, yea they are

and as for physicians weight loss, what a bunch of hooey that is. you coulda been allergic to something in the supplements, so they can't tell you that there's nothing in there that could make you sick -obviously there was. Christ people have weird allergies and don't even realise it...

then again, how long was the public duped into thinking ephedra was safe.
