i'm planning on getting a 2 bdrm apartment and using one as a study but may have brother move in for 1/2 a year until he graduates.
but then i start to build my system.
yes i'm planning on making a nice system.
THX certified sterio and speakers HDTV maybe a plasma tv if they improve any.

Sneak off to AAA or something and pick it up in travelers checks.
to buy a couple laptops? nah I'll wing it and just "tough it out" lol
dunno which to get tho... I mostly need just basic internet access for when I travel and the ability to write (thus install MS OFFICE)
tech boy, got any suggestions?

would be my first place for you to look.
A laptop with office only really rules out apple notebooks. heh
The major thing would be how fast you want it to run.
The other thing is unless you go on line you may have a hard time finding laptops < $1000.
Not sure where you would go since last couple of times i looked in a store the ones they carried started at around 1200.
that would be ok too, 1200's not much of a difference.
IF i went to a 'real' store, where do you suggest? I got my PCs at Radio Shack and they're fairly decent still -I'm just abusive lol.
I'm leery of buying anything that pricey off the internet mostly cuz I'm a wuss. lol

heh as for real stores hmmmm lets see what are your choices.
CompUSA i'd say right out that they are usually more expensive then the others.
Office max... not even sure if they HAVE laptops.
Radio shack. don't know what they cary. i'd see what models/brands they carry and compare.
Gateway is easy to check out. just go to the website i think the stores run the same deals.
best buy. i generally shop there but i haven't done any real laptop shopping with them.
The laptop i'm getting is an apple so no one carries them in the store other then compusa who sells them way above retail (by a couple hundred)
So i'm either having my mom order it offline or taking my brother on a drive down to columbus where they have a store front.
(my mom and brother gets an educational discount from apple saving me like 200 :) )
I was contemplating Best Buy or Gateway. I looked at their stuff online and I spoz it's ok. lol
or Radio Shack just cuz it's easy to get in and out of. It's worth an extra bit for me to not be hassled with crowds and the best buy in brooklyn is especially a place I don't wanna go with a wad of cash.
Gateway's around the corner from me...
