|03:15 pm - Friends Friends and more Friends.|
For a guy who proffesses to be lonely so much i have a lot of friends.
And now for the who is who.
My friends can be split up into 3 major groups.
Old Time RL, Newer RL, Online
***Begin Group 1: Old timers ***
Old Time friends are the smallest bunch mostly named Jim.
Theese are mostly people i used to live with or currently live with and have kept in touch with.
Most noticible are the two jims i've lived with and will most certainly be reading this.
I've known them both for over 7 years. one was my few remaining friends from High school. the other my freshman roomate in college.
I still hang out with them and play D&D with them and will continue to do so for as far as i can see.
Barring them or me leaving the state.
Another part of the older time friends are the people i know through my involvement with the akron animation association that i was president of for a while.
Then there is 492 Poopstreet crowd. I've lived with them for about a year and a half now. except for my brother who i've known his entire life. I was really resistant at moving in with them after seeing the environment. (When i went to move some of my stuff into my empty room i found an empty beer keg) But i've pretty much grown comfortable living with them though the parties still unnerve me at times. and have met some cool people.
**** End Group 1 *****
*** Begin Group 2: The Pit
Then the newer friends. Theese are the people who i've met through the university gaming society and university medival society.
My last year in undergrad at college i got it into my mind to make an effort to meet people and found "The pit" Basically it is the basement of the student center where there are tables and people play cards, magic, and other rping type stuff. When I look back i sorta have the Jane Goodall type thing going. I hung out there at the edge of the group and eventually got pulled in.
Course this lead to pollitical intrigue as people came in and out of "Good Standing" in the group. In other words someone gets pissy at someone else. i just sorta keep my head down low and i'm fine.
I do more and more in recent times with the Newer friends. Theese are the people i am in 2 d&d games with and with whom i fight the foam weapons with.
**** End Group 2 *****
****Begin Group 3: The Wired****
This is by far the largest group but it is also the most volitile.
This origanally started as a group of people on irc on undernet
then grew to include people i mudded with on Abysmal Realms.
Then as undernet fadded i moved over to dalnet.
then as abysmal realm faded in interest for me i wandered around FurryMuck and Tapestries.
And Furcadia was thrown in there somewhere. but i spent alot and i do me ALOT of time online.
For a while it was really bad with FurryMuck and Tapestries for thoose who had been there you probably can figure out why.
but i drew away from them because of a few things that turned rather awkward.
Then some time passed and i found my two current groups that i am involved with.
Online comics and Livejournal. Theese groups are largely meshed since most of the people i talk to about comics have lj and vice versa.
******End Goup 3*******
Now the funny thing i find is when the groups cross and merge.
Between Group 1 and 2 there is practically no interaction. Which is extremely funny in that one of the Jims from group one who happens to be the DM in our games sat next to the DM of my games for group 2 in one of thier classes. In a college of 27K thats a funny coincidence.
As i remember besides that the only other real crossover between the two groups is that friends in group 2 had a problem with a former roomate.
From group 1 & 2 there are ummmm 7 or so people that know about my journal or have of thier own. And none of them are really involved with the comics.
Though i've had about as much the other way. I've met 7 people from online in the past few months that have LiveJournals.
Of course there are a bunch of people that don't fit square in one group or another.
But anyway i probably dwell on this too much anyway.
I'm gonna stop babbling now and get back to work.

Re: We're #1!
What do you hope to accomplish by alienating a vast majority of Dave's friends? You certainly gain nothing by demonstrating your close-minding ingnorance to those of the internet community. Are you too not part of a misunderstand sub-culture? In the 1980s people accused you of worshipping the devil for role-playing and being twisted and perverted for watching anime in the early 90s. I know how much anger was caused by the 'naughty tenticle japanimation' comments. Shame on you. Be more open-minded.

Heh, where'd you go to school? Akron? I can tell by your poor-ass grammer. Even given the time to type and error check you still look like a mormon.
